Relation between Pharmacy and Organon of Medicine

There is a deep relationship between Pharmacy and pharmacopoeia. From the aphorism of Organon of Medicine we can draw the vivid picture of relationship between Pharmacy and Organon of Medicine. In aphorism no. 264-272 Hahnemann gave many directions about Pharmacy.

In aphorism no 264 said about the physician’s responsibility-genuine unimpaired medicine. The physician has to be fully satisfied that his patient is getting genuine medicine that he prescribes. The physician must  be provided with genuine medicines so that he may be able to rely upon their therapeutic power.

In aphorism no.265 Dr. Hahnemann advises the physician to be thoroughly convinced in every case that the patient always takes the right medicine. In aphorism no. 266 tells that medicinal substances belonging to vegetable and animal kingdom possess their medicinal properties during their raw state.

In aphorism no. 267-268 is about preparation of medicines from vegetable substances. Collection of fresh plant=> mixed with equal parts of alcohol=>kept in close stopped bottle for 24 hours=>deposition of fibrinous and albuminous matters=> Supernatant fluid is decanted off=> Fermention is prevented by alcohol=> kept in close stopped bottle and protected from sunlight, heat and strong smelling substance.

In aphorism no.269 tells about dynamisation of drugs-development of medicinal power. And method of dynamisation in centesimal scale in aphorism no 270-271.

In aphorism no.272 is about administration of single remedy.

From this writings we see that a deep relationship is present between Pharmacy and Organon of Medicine.
